AB01 - Rei Hendry
A Qualatative Approach to Teaching Visual Arts

"I am not a Teacher - I am an Awakener" - Robert Frost. The purpose of these workshops is to encourage through an enquiry focus the expression of ideas, responses and reactions with honesty, sensitivity and creativity through art making.

Such quality art must be expressed through an understanding of the form, structures, techniques and language of art. Find out with Weaving the Magic consultant Rei Hendry and our Lady of Lourdes Deputy Principal Jody Hayes how simple it is to guide this process, thus ensuring for your students a fulfilling, exciting and individually rewarding learning process. The workshop on Thursday will focus on 2D approaches and the Friday 3D. You only need to bring your imagination and enthusiasm

AB02 - Shane Harvey

I invite you to attend what I hope will be an innovative and inspirational workshop. This will be an introductory workshop into the emotional competencies of teaching, and I will explore theories of emotional awareness and its critical importance in the creation of warm emotional environments for reaching and learning. This workshop will explore emotional climate of classrooms, stages of children’s emotional development, interpersonal relationships and guidelines, and strategies for emotional regulation, coaching and communication.

AB03 - Nicki Dowling & Adie Graham
Transforming professional relationships

An interactive and practical workshop that explores the possibilities of the shift from ‘advice and guidance’ to educative mentoring for transformational and sustainable professional growth and development;

  1. What is educative mentoring?
  2. Who needs these skills?
  3. What are the skills and how do I start”

AB04 - Murray Gadd
Building Independence in Students as Writers

This workshop will enable participants to explore a range of actions that teachers can use within their regular programme to promote independence and self-regulation amongst their students as developing writers. It will be illustrated by authentic classroom examples. It will be suitable for teachers of all year levels.
